One SAFE Place and Children’s Legacy Center - Spreading Holiday Magic in 2024

Article

The holiday season is often filled with joy, connection, and celebration, but for families experiencing hardship, it can also bring added stress and challenges. At One Safe Place (OSP) and Children’s Legacy Center (CLC), we aim to honor and empower the families we serve by meeting them where they are and providing meaningful support. This year, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we brought the magic of the season to life in ways that truly uplifted and celebrated those we serve.

Empowerment Through the Holiday Store

Our Holiday Store served as a space where 115 individuals had the opportunity to choose gifts for their families and loved ones.

This experience was intentionally designed to empower clients, giving them the dignity and autonomy of selecting items they knew would bring joy to their loved ones. From toys and clothing to festive seasonal items, every choice was theirs to make, helping them create cherished holiday memories while preserving the magic of the season.

Reducing Stress Through Wish Lists

The holidays can be a particularly challenging time for families in need, which is why our Holiday Wish Lists were thoughtfully designed to meet families where they are. Our Holiday Wish Lists detailed a variety of items, sizes, and needs so clients could put their thoughts on paper and out of their minds. Our staff, and the generosity of our community, took it from there-

This year, we fulfilled 141 wish lists across One Safe Place and Children’s Legacy Center, ensuring that caregivers and children alike could experience the joy of the season without the stress of unmet needs.

These gifts—ranging from toys and books to practical and comfort items—provided not just material support, but also emotional relief. With holiday gifts covered, clients could focus on spending quality time with their families, creating joyful memories together.

Just over 705 gifts were wrapped and delivered to clients! Each item reflected the thoughtfulness and compassion of our donors.

A Community of Care

This incredible impact was only possible because of the kindness and generosity of our donors:

  • Individual community members who showed up with open hearts to support their neighbors.
  • Peery Family Chiropractic patients, whose contributions added a special touch of care.
  • Customers of Historic Hawes Farms, who joined the effort to create a brighter season for families.
  • Barnes & Noble, for their support through the B&N Book Drive and thoughtful donations of books that brought the gift of imagination and learning.
  • Generous local businesses, who stepped up to partner with us and make a difference.

Your compassion has brought hope and joy to so many families, reminding them they are not alone and that their community cares.

Building Hope for the Future

At One Safe Place and Children’s Legacy Center, we believe in the resilience of the individuals and families we serve. This holiday season, we witnessed the power of coming together to meet needs in a way that respects and honors the humanity of everyone involved.

As we look to the future, we are grateful for the continued support of our community and remain committed to creating a safe, supportive space where families can heal, grow, and thrive. Together, we are fostering hope and making lasting impacts in the lives of those we serve.
