At Arch Collaborative and OSP, we believe in the power of community partnerships to create a stronger, more supportive network for individuals and families impacted by trauma. Through these partnerships, we can make a greater difference- not only for those we serve but for the entire community. That’s why we are proud of and cheering on our CEO, Kimberly Johnson, as she participates in the upcoming Celebrity Boxing event benefiting Raising Shasta, a nonprofit organization playing a critical role in Shasta County.
As the Chief Development Officer at Arch Collaborative and One SAFE Place (OSP), I’m often asked about our programs and our work in the community. I also get the opportunity to share news related to the work we do in partnership with other agencies and organizations, sometimes sharing about their incredible work as well. This is one such case.
Raising Shasta’s programs, such as the Police Athletic League (PAL) boxing program, provide vital mentorship and life skills to local youth, especially those who may be at risk. The impact of a boxing program on teens- through improved discipline, self-control, and responsibility- is transformative. This is not about promoting violence; instead, it teaches resilience and empowers youth to rise above their challenges. Real stories from young people whose lives have been positively changed, along with research, demonstrate how this sport serves as a tool for healing and personal growth.
Arch Collaborative and OSP deeply understand the importance of providing safe, supportive pathways to healing. Boxing, as practiced in the PAL program, is a sport that emphasizes mental and emotional resilience, not violence. It teaches focus, determination, and emotional management, giving youth the tools they need to succeed both in and outside the ring. For many, it becomes a path to healing, offering an outlet for self-expression and growth.
At Arch Collaborative and OSP, our mission centers on providing hope and healing to the individuals and families we serve. But we know that changing lives requires more than just one organization’s efforts- it takes a village. Our partnership with Raising Shasta is a perfect example of this. By collaborating with other nonprofits, we amplify the positive changes we can make, contributing to a powerful effort that shifts the trajectory of our community and helps to heal generations to come.
We encourage the people of Shasta County to stand with organizations like Arch Collaborative, One SAFE Place, and Raising Shasta, whose collective efforts are driven by the belief that everyone deserves a better future. Join us as part of our village of hope, where your involvement helps us serve those who need it most and creates a lasting impact in our region.
